I love Nancy Gibbs!  She writes in the concluding essay of TIME magazine about how the ‘female candidates own the macho rhetoric. But it’s not for the reason you think.’  She says this, ‘What sounds like a “Sisterhood, hear me roar” rallying cry may actually be calculated to appeal not to women but to men–strong, silent types who have been left behind in the Hecession, dismissed or derided by a metrosexual media culture, and whose ability to hunt and gather and provide for their families is threatened by an economy skewing more female and more verbal, toward service and away from muscle.  The imperative to man up honors that old male model and is a powerful allure to men who want to hear it respected.”
Do they understand what they are doing to undermine, sabotage the advancement of equality in this country, this world?! how they demean themselves and tear down the very dignity that must be afforded one as human being by participating in the sexualization that degrades and cheapens all whom they claim to represent?!  Are people really going to vote them in–these silly people who are quick with sly slams, but have no idea about the very real, serious and extraordinarily vital issues that will affect the very livelihood of so many people about whose existence they’ve likely only read?!  When they don’t even know who they are quoting, nor about the issues that they claim to oppose, how can others even take them seriously, much less vote them into positions that will actually affect the the lives of these people whose existence is already so precarious? When so much has just begun to be gained for the betterment of the country and humankind, will the process abort these gains in favor of reverting to a kind of slavery, a further widening of the income-gap, legalization of oppression against ‘the least of these’?
Oh, I pray to the God of Justice and Righteousness, that these roll down like a river, flow as a stream.  Subvert those who seek only their own comfort, ignite the weary and disheartened to take a chance on a vote.  Though politics is never the final answer, the ultimate salvation, Yahweh, you have moved in this country to be an agent of peace and love to the rest of the world.  I pray we become better stewards of the immense riches in our very laps, and that be reflected today in the election process.  You place the rulers.  You love to move among us.  Let us all be aware of your presence today.
