Viriditas: a Spiritual Community
Who is viriditas?
Viriditas is a re-creation of a spiritual community within the River Conference of the Free Methodist Church. Rooted in the concept of viriditas—the greening life-force suffusing the soul and permeating the world—this community seeks to honor the interconnectedness of all creation. Our mission is to cultivate a sacred space where the divine speaks through inner light, community, and the natural world, fostering spiritual, ecological, and communal well-being.

Our Mission
We believe that the Living Light is still speaking and that, as co-creators with the divine, we are called to steward and enliven the interconnectedness of all life. Through cooperative and co-creative spiritual practices, we protect, nourish, and integrate both rational and intuitive wisdom, fostering a life-sustaining, sacred ecology. We believe we are called to prophetically reimagine the Church as stewards of viriditas (earth’s life-force), a vital element to complete-ing kin-dom whole-ness.

Program and Activities
Communal Ritual and Practice
Our gatherings will consist of the following structured yet fluid communal rituals:
- Communal Welcome and Sharing: Centering around a theme that reflects our spiritual and ecological calling.
- Audio Divina and Stillness: Engaging with sacred sounds and silence to deepen our connection with the divine.
- Lectio Divina and Reflection: Reading and contemplating sacred texts through a lens of ecological spirituality.
- Visio Divina and Movement, Art: Using imagery, artistic expression, and movement as spiritual practices.
- Deep Listening and Sharing the Eucharist: A communal practice of sacred nourishment, honoring interconnectedness.
- Enacting Our Call: Encouraging each participant to live into the greening life-force of the soul through concrete action.
